What are the most visited websites? Where to find this information?
Some data is available at an international level, other at a national level.
Different techniques are available:

Use a cookie / javascript on the website directly: this is in general a more national solution helping websites get certified data to communicate to advertising agencies. As a result, mostly “old / traditional” websites who have a very national audience choose to pay for such a service. For example in France and Germany, you won’t find websites like Google, Facebook, Amazon, Twitter… The american and chinese giants are not there, whereas they are often more visited than the biggest national players.
In Germany, both AGOF and IVW give results. IVF being more general, covering all types of media, whereas AGOF is dedicated to “online” media, with a strong focus on desktop / mobile. They also have a part dedicated to apps but for apps there are other better alternatives.
